I was unable to breastfeed my son, so I had never really considered buying breastfeeding friendly outfits until having my second baby recently. We couldn’t find our rhythm with breastfeeding thanks to a variety of issues, but I’m still left with large boobs and a slowly deflating postpartum paunch 8 weeks on. I then realised that I have events coming up, such as my friend’s wedding in a couple of weeks and my clothes still don’t fit right, especially not my outfits for special occasions and I really want to dress up and feel nice! Step in Ricia – a fantastic high-end breastfeeding friendly lux occasion wear brand…
From the box alone, I knew what was inside was going to be beautiful. I was sent a ‘Susan’ 100% Silk Top, which is elasticated under the bust, allows for discreet feeding and can be dressed up and down. I was also sent the Victoria Wrap Dress which is going to be perfect for the wedding I’m attending in a few weeks.
I love how the clothes are flattering, well made and have been designed with the postpartum body in mind, with extra room around the hips, bust and ribs to be extra comfortable. Although Ricia garments aren’t cheap, they are investment pieces that are well made and be dressed up and worn for an occasion, as well as dressed down.
Julia, the mama behind the brand, really felt there was a gap in the market for high-end wear that was breastfeeding friendly. Speaking to Julia, she certainly isn’t a militant breastfeeding advocate, her dresses can be worn by non-breastfeeders too, and the sensitively designed pieces for our changing shape post pregnancy is what stands out to me most about this collection.
If you want to shop small, support a mama, have an occasion to go to and want to look lux, but feel comfortable all at the same time, then Ricia is for you… oh and have 10% off using code RICIA10, because we’re nice like that!
Although Ricia is normally online HERE – they are ‘popping up’ this week at 121 Sydney Street, London, SW3 between 13-19 November alongside some other cool mama brands. Go and see the beauties in real life!
