When you’ve just had a baby there is nothing better than an extra pair of hands. Someone who can look after YOU as well as your new baby, any other children and partner too!
For us, this time around, that extra pair of hands came in the form of Jemma aka Nourish Mama who provided both myself and my partner with 3 weeks’ worth of delicious meals that were freshly made, nutritionally balanced and simply required heating through or popping in the oven. In that initial postnatal fog where you can barely remember your own name, let alone eating well, this was a godsend for us.
I met with Jemma whilst I was going into my third trimester of pregnancy to talk about food preferences and nutrition, so she could figure out a plan for how I could eat well (when she wasn’t providing us with meals), as well as the sort of food we might like once our baby was here. For each of the 3 weeks we selected from a comprehensive menu with choices such as: coq au vin, thai green curry, feta and beetroot burgers, shepherds pie with sweet potato mash – comfort food with a nutritious kick. As you can see from the picture below, it even got my husband in the kitchen (no mean feat) in order to provide one exhausted new mum *me* with a freshly made meal.. it also meant I didn’t need to worry about him eating either!
The food was appetisingly packed in glass containers that we returned on a weekly basis when Jemma made our food delivery. Jemma is North London based, so if you’re reading this with a North London postcode.. you are in luck! The portion sizes were good and occasional treats were thrown in… like delicious thai spice crackers!
I’d highly recommend Nourish Mama – looking after ourselves is so important and this just gave me one less thing to worry about – so thank you Jemma!
