Whether you’re planning a staycation in the UK or are jetting off further afield, we hope these tips will make travelling with your little one that bit easier.
Airport Meet & Greet
Instead of travelling to the airport by taxi or train, use one of the airport’s meet and greet services. You drive yourself there in the comfort of your own car and are met by someone who takes your car and parks it for you.
On the return journey, you call them when you land and they will meet you at the other end of customs with your car all ready for you to drive home.
This takes the worry out of car seats and also provides a familiar mode of transport to and from the airport.
A lightweight buggy for the airport
A smaller, lightweight buggy makes things so much easier when on holiday but also helps when navigating around the airport.
As you normally have to give your buggy up quite early on in the airport, a carrier or sling will come in really handy when waiting in the queue to board and also when walking along the aisles of the plane.
Don’t forget a comforter or a blanket…..
Especially when travelling long-haul. One that your baby is particularly familiar with should make the journey that bit easier.
It also seems that the earlier in the day you travel with your baby, the more likely they are to settle on the flight. The early morning start means that your baby will be much more likely to sleep on the journey and will therefore be less mobile!
…..And lots of toys and distractions to keep them entertained!
There is nothing worse than having an unhappy, screaming baby and nothing to distract them with. Ensure you have plenty of your baby’s favourite toys to hand and also episodes of their favourite television programmes stored up on your tablet or phone. Feeding your baby during take-off can also help to soothe them and may well send them off to sleep.
Pack lots of changes of clothes
There’s something about the altitude and air pressure when flying which tends to make little ones need the loo. Be sure to pack lots of changes of clothes just in case you need to deal with any nappy situations!
Nappy Bag Essentials/Handy things to have
Vital Aquaint Baby Hand Sanitiser
This is a natural hand sanitising water that can be used straight onto dummies, bottles or toys. It can be used to sterilise anything when on the go so is perfect when in an airport/travelling environment.
A breathable, black-out blind that can be put over your babies buggy when you go out in the evening creating a night time environment making it easier to sleep.
Try not to worry too much about travelling with your new baby. It can often seem a bit daunting taking a baby away on holiday, but a change from the everyday routine can do everyone a world of good.
