NCT and midwives are good preparation for birth and the initial days with a newborn, but then you’re on your own! This course is so useful for everything that follows; advice on sleep, tips for weaning, first aid training. As a 2nd time mum I learnt lots that I didn’t know 1st time, plus it’s been really nice to meet other local mums. I’d definitely recommend to anyone with a new baby.
Miranda, Crouch End course – April 2019
Thoroughly enjoyed the course and would highly recommend to friends and any parent with a new baby. We covered sleep, weaning and first aid, I’m struggling to pick a favourite week because they were all so valuable but as a first time mum I know a lot of the info I’ve taken with me will stay with me forever.
It’s by far the best course I’ve done and the only one that’s covered all the subjects I knew nothing about that I now feel confident in.
Definitely a must for any new parent and not just first time mums either!Sarah – Crouch End course – March 2019
I cannot recommend this course enough! I’d been having a rubbish time with my second baby and been diagnosed with PND, nothing could prepare me for feeling so low but having been told about the Nurturing Mums course from my sister in law I thought why not, get a little refresher on parenting dos and don’ts, and a great excuse to get out the house and I was so happy I did it! I made some great friends who I’m still in contact with! We also got loads of great extras like a beautiful photo from a professional photographer. Do it, I’m sad it’s over and wish I could do it all again!
Naomi, Crouch End, January 2018
Really enjoyed Nurturing Mums – it covers loads of things that our pre-natal course didn’t. Great to be able to ask all the stupid questions directly to experts from a range of important topics (in particular sleep, weaning and first aid) and so lovely to meet other mums in the area to all feel knackered together!
Camilla, Crouch End, December 2017
As a new mum it’s hard remembering everything you learnt on an antenatal course. Joining Nurturing Mums once I’d had my son was so helpful. It meant I could take on all the practical advice in the context of his unique personality… and actually put it all into practice! The sessions were informative and impartial, couldn’t recommend this more. Thank you Lucinda, Helen & team!

I spent the first 8 weeks of my daughter’s life thinking that she simply didn’t nap during the day. I assumed all the squawking and difficult behaviour was just her temperament. Not true!! I attended the NM course and while all the sessions were incredibly useful, the sleep week was an absolute god send. I now have a happy little girl who naps 3 times a day in her cot and we both get the best of one another. So much useful information to be gained from attending the NM course, I came away feeling empowered and a little more in control.
I’m still in touch with the lovely ladies I met on the course too. I think it’s so important to have a few mum friends to share your journey with. I’d recommend this course in a heartbeat!
Suzie, Islington, April 2017
‘Funday Monday’ just couldn’t have happened without Nurturing Mums! Really nice to get together with new mums and their bubbas to learn about sleep, weaning, baby development – so much! Especially liked the non-judgmental and relaxed approach of the sleep and weaning experts, as there are so many books and theories and their ‘common sense – here’s how to do it if you’d like some ideas’ was really super. Thoroughly enjoyed it. And the opportunity for socialising after!
Valerie, Earlsfield, 2017
The course was really well thought out and just so useful. From sleeping to weaning, it was brilliant to get advice at a time when you have no clue what’s going on! And I met awesome mums too. Worth every penny and wish it went on for another 6 months!
Effie, Islington, February 2017
The first session was wonderful. I can see why you were confident that I would love it! It felt so personal and I felt at ease straight away. Already wish there were more than four sessions left!
Mama, Northcote Road, January 2017
There were so many brilliant memories from the Nurturing Mums course…If any mamas are reading this, definitely sign up. The advice given across the five weeks were life changing. My daughter NOW SLEEPS THROUGH THE NIGHT and ENJOYS being on solids – it has made parenting second time round a pleasure
Donna, Earlsfield, November 2016
My son, Theo, was born nearly 3 months premature and for that reason we missed the NCT course I had booked in February. Through the dark months of hospital, I felt isolated and sad that we had missed out on meeting other parents in the area. I discovered Nurturing Mums online – loved the vibe of it and it’s local/home-grown nature. There’s something brilliant with knowing once a week, in a lovely pub with free coffee, you get to meet other mothers and an expert. The informal nature of the course means you get to ask the questions you want to with the experts and swop and share stories with other mothers. I have now made a firm friend from the course – and Theo has got a lovely playmate from it – and all the mothers are now on an obligatory Whatssap group. What’s particularly useful is doing a course like this post-birth. We’ve all been mums for a few months but get the chance to learn a bit more on the job, as it were.
It’s friendly, warm space to put the babies on the rug, sit back and listen to some great advice and share the incredible experience of being a mother.
I have also been inspired to explore some options for my own business venture as a new mum. Thank you so much! Claire, Crouch End, June 2016
I really enjoyed the course as it was friendly and a great way to meet local mums. What I liked the most was the way all the experts encouraged and offered advice but without judgement – something that I worried about, especially as there is alot of conflicting information out there and I can feel judged as a new parent. A prenatal course can offer information but it is generalised – it was great to be a part of a postnatal course as we are getting to know our babies with their own personalities so we were able to ask questions tailored to their needs. I will soon be meeting up with the mums from my course for a catch up, and have made great friend through Nurturing Mums, which means Theodore also has a little friend to play with! On top of that we have been able to do some recipriocal childcare which is of course invaluable.
I have also been inspired to explore some options for my own business venture as a new mum. Thank you so much! Victoria, Crouch End, June 2016
Lovely to meet other mums & learn about important topics Alessia, Crouch End, May 2016
I’ve really enjoyed the course & found all the sessions really interesting. It was lovely to meet up with the same people each week Becky, Crouch End, May 2016
A really fun course! I really enjoyed meeting local mums and learning about the stages that are relevant to my baby now – Melanie, East Finchley, April 2016
Nuturing Mums was full of amazing ideas and really great topics! I would totally recommend! – Caroline, East Finchley, April 2016
I really enjoyed the course – the speakers were very knowledgeable and answered so many of my questions. The sessions were informal, fun and very useful! – Natasha, East Finchley, April 2016
Fun and informative course, very welcoming. Wish it was longer! – Lara, Crouch End, January 2016
Nurturing Mums was the perfect educational excuse to meet other parents. Learned so much and had great fun.Jessica, East Finchley, November 2015
I’m so glad I went on the NM course- it was fab! As well as meeting a really lovely group of ladies, the weekly experts saved me so much time and stress trawling through one-size-fits-all baby books. I loved the fact that I got all my questions answered in a really friendly, relaxed setting. I’d definitely recommend NM to anyone who wants a place where they can find things out and make friends with people going through all the same stuff! – Emma, Crouch End, October 2015
I found that the sessions were a great informal and social way to ask any questions that I had while learning from other people’s experience
Max and I really enjoyed the sessions. Lots of helpful tips, new friends & happy babies! – Kathy, East Finchley September 2015
Nurturing Mums is brilliant for meeting new mums and the course content is relevant, interesting, informative and fun! – Lucy, East Finchley September 2015
Great session today on sleeping! Picked up some great tips on how to settle my son without a dummy! Cannot recommend this course enough, the other mummies are so lovely. – Hannah, Crouch End September, 2015
Fantastic so far. I’ve only attended the first session, but it was really fun, useful and relaxed, and the other girls on the course are lovely, which is a bonus. I’m looking forward to next week’s session already. – Elizabeth, Muswell Hill, September 2015
I have absolutely loved being a Nurturing Mum and I’m really sorry that it’s coming to an end. We had a lovely group and it’s been brilliant for my confidence, both in terms of the content and all the useful tips and also because it got me out of the house and into a supportive, social environment. There was a really good balance of sessions and I’ve gained so much
from it.
I’ve found that it’s all too easy for new mums to fall into the comparison game or inadvertently make each other feel inadequate whereas you’ve created a much more open and supportive space. It was also great to be in a group where we are recognised as individuals who have lives and careers and not just as mums. – Amy, Edgeware, July 2014
The Nurturing Mums course met all my hopes. It gave me a reason to get out of the house with my very young baby in the early days; it provided me with very useful information and advice in areas that can be overwhelming to start thinking about e.g. weaning; it fostered a network of other local mums that I hope will continue and, importantly, all of this happened in a grown up environment (local pub), which was a great place for the mums to sit and chat after the morning’s session had finished. – Lindsay, East Finchley, Oct 2013
Thanks so much, if it wasn’t for you both I certainly wouldn’t be feeling as positive as I now am. You should both feel so wonderful for helping so many women at such a poignant time in their lives. – Debs, East Finchley, April 2014
Originally I joined the group to meet other mums and also to get access to the experts. I have left with a new circle of friends and a baby who now sleeps in 4-5 hour stretches having previously slept for 2-3 hours max! We are not quite ready for weaning, but when we get there I’m armed with hints and tips to get my little girl to be a happy and not fussy eater. The group itself was totally non judgemental and very supportive. This is the first class I’ve taken that is for mummies (I’ve done baby sensory, baby massage, baby music, rhyme time) so it was great to feel like we mums were the focus. Would highly suggest going to this useful and supportive group. – Abbie, Barnet, Jan 2014
The Nurturing Mums course was just brilliant, so thank you again. – Yasmin, Crouch End, Oct 2013
I have so loved the Nurturing Mums postnatal course and am actually sad that it’s over! I wasn’t originally planning to join a postnatal group until I heard about the fantastic-sounding Nurturing Mums course. With insightful talks, goody bags and pampering, it sounded useful, special and a little bit different; I certainly wasn’t let down! It’s been so interesting learning about key issues as well as building up an invaluable support network of local mums. Having that helping-hand feeling through the early stages is useful and comforting – I just wish the course was longer as I’d happily attend! – Claire, Hertfordshire, Oct 2013
Nurturing mums was great. I wasn’t sure at first if it would be useful to me as a second time mum, but I learnt loads. I really don’t have time to read all those baby books and had forgotten a lot of the basics! I loved the way the course was structured so a different topic was covered each week. I got to hear the experts opinion plus the views of fellow mums, it was all very relaxed and informal. Griff got to meet other babies, and it was brilliant to see how quickly everyone’s babies grew week by week. I found the play and sleep sessions really useful and picked up some very handy tips.- Emma, Finchley, Jan 2014
Nurturing mums is different from other postnatal courses as it provides information and advice about all the important baby related topics, offered in a relaxed, fun and informal way. It gives you access to all the experts and I got several useful tips on everything from sleeping to good local baby music lessons to where to get a good manicure! I would highly recommend this course to any new mum – Paula, Crouch End, Oct 2013
The meet & greet was very welcoming and relaxing. It made me very comfortable. I was still feeling overwhelmed and it was good to know that others feel the same. I was interested in the social side of it, the topics were a bonus. – Megan, Nov 2012
I loved the photographs by Felicity! – Stephanie, Muswell Hill, Jan 2013
Sleep is the holy grail of parenthood! Any info on it is always appreciated! – Suzanne, East Finchley, Jan 2013
It was great to meet you both, as well as the other mums from Nurturing Mums. I really liked the variety of the course and the fact that there was something of interest for us each week. Shame it couldn’t be longer! – Maria, Muswell Hill, April 2013
The course is brilliant. Succinct, professional, well run, in a good venue…Elise and Gemma are both an inspiration and very down to earth. I was so impressed. I will and have recommended this course to friends.- Bonny, Finchley, June 2013
I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the past 4 sessions. They have been very informative and it was lovely to meet all the new mums as well as yourself and Gemma. – Victoria, Highgate, January 2013
I decided to sign up for Nurturing Mums when my baby was 2 months old. I was keen to meet other mums in the area. Each session would focus on how to help mum with baby with some added pamper time for mums. The venue was perfect, lots of space for pushchairs, big comfy sofas for breastfeeding and coffees and pastries to go with. I really appreciated that space to open up and discuss my experience so far, before I was sifting internet forums for guidance but I found so much conflicting advice. A regular meet up in my diary from week to week also gave me something to look forward to. – Sasha, Highgate, Nov 2012
